This mechanization and rationalization in the field of building is one of the prelimininary conditions for the boom in building that has experioenced in the FEDERAL REPUBLIC in Recent Year. and it is the same time a consequences of it. Its importance in contributing to the internal recuperation of the German people can be measured only, if one compared it with the extents of damage resulting. .

By the time the 2.2 million dwellings in the Federal area- about 20 percent. of the total had been completly destroyred . At the end of the sep . 19-- the number of the persons employed in the entire building trade was 2,324,000 .
In 19-- the price of rough building land in the federal Republic building land in the Federal Republic ,was about 9.60 DM ($2.40=$_/17/2) per sq. meter , of land ready for building on about 15.50DM($3,88=$1/7/8)
Of the 936,000 houses built between 19-- and19-- for private ownership , 33 percent were for workers 20 percent, for official and office staff, and 2.8 percent, for pensioners. By 19-- about 2.4 million normal dwellings were owned by employees, who, even if the average value of a house is taken as only 15,000 DM($3.750=$1.339) have thus become the owners of property worth 36,000 million DM( $9,000 million=$3.214million)
