The professional and economic interests of the wholesale and foreign trade are repersented by the General Association of German Wholesale and Foreign trade (Gesamlverband des Deurschen Gross-und Aussenhandles),which embraces 102 organization concerned with particular branches 102 organizations concerned with particular branches as also 14 land associations. The central Association of the German Retail Trade( Hauptgemeinschaft des Deutschen Einzelhandles) repersents the economic , as professional and social interests of the retail trade as whole. Fourteen land association ( including West Berlin) have direct membership , and these in turn are organized in associations at the Bezirk and kresis level. The specific individual interests of the various branches of the retail trade are takencare of by 30 individual associations and working committees operating at the federal level and likewise affilated to the central association. Apart from repersenting the interests of the retail trade as a whole the central Association Regards rationalization in retail trade concerns a special task.
The Central association of German craftsman ( zentralverband des-Deutschen Handwerks), which has it offices in Bonn , is the top level repersentation of handicraft in the federal area and West Berlin. Its member includes the 45 local chambers of Handicraft in the Federal Area and West Berlin. Its member include the
45 local chambers of Handicraft looking after all branches of handicraft and the 56 organizations concerning themselves with particular branches of handicraft, unlike the rest trade and industry, both the Chambers and special organizations have a common Roof organization.
The central Association of GERMAN Craftsmen (Zentral Verband des Deutschenhandwerks)
which has its office in the BONN, is the top level repersentation of handicraft in the Federal area and west BERLIN. Its member include the 45 local chambers of
Handicraft looking after all branches of handicraft. Thus in handicraft unlike the rest in trade and industry, both the chambers and special organizations have a common roof organization.
The approximately 124 braches of hasndicraft are associated in about 50 professional organizations . Following ancient handicraft tradition . The smallest depertmentalized unit is the guild. There are about 9,600 of these guilds : as a general principle ,one for each branch inhandicraft in each municipal area or country district.
The head office of the 9 Research centres devoted to handicraft is the German Handicraft institute in Munich in which city the Fair of German Handicrafts , which attract people from all ovrer the world and at which handicrafts product and requirements are featured, is held every spring.
For the middle classes in town and country, saving banks and cooperatives have a particular significance. Saving- banks, loan and building association and the communal banks clearing- houses are associated in the Union of Germany Saving and clearing Banks. In their approximately 9,300 branches these financial institutions
administer 23 million saving accouts and four million seperate credits, short term and long term. In maintaining the economic and personal independence of the middle classes , the approximately 1,400 goods cooperatives and 715 people Banks have proved their worth. They are associated in the German association of the industrial Credit cooperatives ( SCHULZ_ DELITZSH) which togather with the leading organs of other cooperative socities- Raiffeisen consumer cooperatives and cooperatives building societies belongs to the Independent Committee of leading associations of German cooperative building Societies belongs to the independent
Committee of the leading Associations of German Cooperative Affairs. At the middle of 19--. the balance -in -hand at the people banks was nearly 8,200 million
DM($2,050million=$732 million)63 percent of which was accounted by saving deposits.
